Nine out of eleven bodies of persons who died in a grisly road accident in Kericho County about two weeks ago have been identified by their next of kins.
Police said a body of 30-year-old woman and an eight-year-old girl are still lying at the Kericho County Level Four hospital mortuary because they have not been identified.
Eleven people perished on 6th August at Nyaberi near Kipsitet Trading Centre on Kericho-Kisumu highway when a PSV-14 Seater Matatu christened Wareng Luxury collided head-on with a trailer which was traveling on the opposite direction.
Kericho deputy OCPD Nathan Sanya said the bodies had no identification documents when the accident occurred, thus becoming very difficult to be identified.
“Already nine bodies have been identified and they have been taken for burial at their respective homes. We are therefore appealing to the members of the public who may be having missing persons to contact Kericho police or visit the mortuary to check the unidentified bodies,” said Sanya.
