Suspected Al Shabaab militants raid two villages in Lamu, behead 72 years old man in Lamu

The Al shabaab menace reared its ugly head again after suspected terrorists raided two villages in Lamu West, Lamu county last night and beheaded a man aged 72 years before setting several houses ablaze.

According to preliminary police findings, the attackers raided Marafa and Poromoko villages at around 9 p.m.

In Marafa, the assailants torched four houses and beheaded a 72-year-old man.

However, no arrests have been made so far.

The Lamu region, which includes popular tourist beach destination Lamu Island, lies close to the Somali border and has suffered frequent attacks in the past, including roadside bombs and the abduction of foreigners.
