Pastor Ezekiel arrested in Kilifi as DCI sleuths probe alleged links to Shakahola deaths

Televangelist Ezekiel Odero of New Life Prayer Centre and Church has been arrested by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives in Kilifi and his church closed down indefinitely over suspected radical teachings and indoctrination.

Detectives are also probing his alleged links to the Shakahola deaths and his association to prime suspect into the tens of know deaths, controversial pastor Paul Nthenge Mackenzie.

So far, 98 people have been confirmed dead from radical teachings of starving to death in the name of fasting in anticipation of meeting their maker.

Coast Regional Commissioner Rodha Onyanja confirmed the preacher’s arrest on today morning, saying he was apprehended by joint security teams in Coast.

“This morning we have arrested Pastor Ezekiel Odero of New Life Prayer Centre and Church in Mavueni on allegation of the deaths that have been occurring at his premises and reported to various morgues or institutions.” Onyanja told the media.
