President William Ruto launch Nairobi Rivers Commission, pledge to restore city’s glory

President William Samoei Ruto has committed to reclaim back the lost glory of Nairobi that has degenerated over the years.

The president cited cleanliness, safety and healthy for everyone as key priorities in reclaiming the lost glory of the Nairobi City.

“The unhealthy environmental situation must be corrected to restore Nairobi to its true identity,” he said.

He spoke yesterday during the launch of the Nairobi Rivers Commission at the sprawling Korogocho slums in Nairobi.

He said the government has resolved to not only reclaim Nairobi’s image as Africa’s green city but also live up to its ancestral identity as the river of cool and fresh water.

He exuded confidence that the Commission will bring in fresh and considerable effort to accelerate the restoration of Nairobi.

Leaders present were Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Second Lady Dorcas Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Hon Musalia Mudavadi, Nairobi City governor Sakaja Johnson, Makueni governor Mutula Kilonzo among others.

The President also took a swipe against the opposition leader and Azimio One Kenya Coalition boss Raila Odinga who threatened to lead peaceful mass action in fourteen days if the Ruto’s administration would not have reversed the skyrocketing cost of living.

In a bold rejoinder, the president affirmed that Kenya will keep being governed by the rule of law.

On his part, Gachagua said the government was focused on serving all Kenyans equally and fairly.

And on his part, Kilonzo said it is time the pollution of the environment was termed an economic crime in the country.

The sustainable cleaning of Nairobi River, governor Sakaja added, represents the current regime’s legacy.
