DCI boss Amin summon Matiang’i’s lawyer Danstan Omari over house raid claims

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Amin Mohamed’s office has issued formal summons the embattled former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s lawyer, Danstan Omari, over the alleged police raid at the home of former Interior CS in Karenm, Nairobi.

Through the police summons dated February 21, 2023 and drawn by the head of Serious Crime Unit (SCU) boss Michael K. Sang, Omari is required to report to the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road tomorrow without fail.

The officer says he is “investigating allegations of publication of false information contrary to section 23 of the computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act 2018 amongst other offences in regard to alleged invasion and raid of the residence of the former Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Interior and National Co-ordination, Dr. Fred Matiang’i on the 8th, 9th day of February 2023 allegedly by a “battalion” and/or “garrison” of police officers.” The summons read in part.

He linked the lawyer to the offence.

“I have reasons to believe that you, Danstan Omari, an Advocate of the High court of Kenya, is connected to the offence or has information which can assist me in my investigations,” he the summons add in part.

Failure to avail himself at the DCI headquarters, Sang said will constitute “an offence liable to prosecution.”

Omari is a lead lawyer in the case where he accused police of raiding his client’s residence at night.
