UDA scoops top positions in Kandara, Garissa Township, Elgeyo Marakwet by-election results

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party candidate Chege Njuguna has emerged winner of the Kandara Constituency by-election seat after garnering 21,650 votes.

According to provisional results seen by The Informer, Ford Asili’s Titus Njau came second with 14,678 while Kiburi PMG Junior (Usawa kwa Wote) emerged third with 1,469 votes.

The Kandara seat fell vacant following the appointment of Alice Wahome who was appointed Cabinet Secretary for Water and Sanitation.

In the Garissa constituency by-election, UDA’s Dekow Barrow Mohammed has emerged top with 11,572 votes.

United Democratic Movement (UDM) candidate Nassir Dolal Mohammed alias Jofle came second with 8,158 votes.

Ibrahim Nur Malow Shurie of Narc-Kenya garnered 840 votes with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party candidate Abdifaisal Amin in the fourth position with 447 votes.

Abdikhaim Osman Mohamed of the Democratic Party (DP) garnered 59 votes.

Dekow will replace Aden Duale who took office as Defence Cabinet Secretary as appointed by President William Ruto.

On the other hand, UDA’s William Kisang is set to be declared winner of the Elgeyo Marakwet senatorial by-election after garnering 41,378 votes.

Kisang showed a commanding lead in official results from Keiyo North and Keiyo South constituencies.

Tim Kipchumba of the Party of Peace and Development (PPD) conceded defeat in the race after following closely with 38,151 votes.

Kisang will succeed Kipchumba Murkomen who resigned following his appointment as Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary.

In the Shella Ward by-election, ODM candidate Atwaa Salim led with 1,053 votes beating his closest rival Mohamed Hassan Ali of the Amani National Congress (ANC) party who got 573 votes.

UDA’s Saamiya Mohamed Abduljabar came distant third with 45 votes while Nizar Mohamed Shee of the United Green Movement (UGM) Party emerged fourth with only 10 votes.
