Lobby group call for the jailing of CS Mucheru for contempt of court

The Uzalendo Institute of Leadership and Democracy has asked the court to jail Cabinet Secretary for ICT Joe Mucheru for contempt of court.

Uzalendo also wants Stanley Kamunguya, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Information Communication Technology (ICT) Authority, Pauline Wamuyu, the company secretary and Fahmo Mohammed who is a senior officer jailed.

In the petition, Uzalendo claimed that Kamanguya’s appointment was unprocedural and that the CEO accepted the job offer despite being aware of an order that barred his appointment.

“The appointment of Kamunguya was procedural and lawful. As such, it has neither been suspended nor invalidated by any competent court, hence the appointment remains valid and operational,” read the petition.

“By deceptively failing to disclose the appointment of Mr Kamanguya, the petitioner fraudulently caused the court to issue irregular orders, thereby injuring the dignity of the court. This application draws the attention of the court to various relevant and critical issues that have mischievously been concealed from the court by the petitioner,” it added.

However, the four claimed that the court orders were obtained through fraud.

They said that the August 23 orders were irregular as the system from the group withheld factual material from the court.
