Couple, three children and two grandchildren burnt to death by fire in Embu County
A family of seven was today wiped out after a deadly blazed gutted their three bedroomed wooden house burning all to death in Ngimari village in Runyenjes constituency, Embu County.
The seven; an elderly couple, two daughters, a son and two grandchildren were all burnt beyond recognition.
A somber mood engulfed the sleepy village as neighbours tried to come to terms with the horrific development.
Also, property worth tens of thousands was reduced to ashes.
However, the actual cause of the deadly inferno is yet to be established.

Embu East Deputy county commissioner Jane Waruinge confirmed the incident saying investigations were underway to establish the cause of the fire.
“Until know we haven’t been able to establish the cause of the fire but all our officers including those from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are here. Give us time to investigate this issue so that we can establish what is the real cause of the fire given that we have no witnesses apart from the neighbors as all the family members have died in the fire.” She said.
Distraught neighbours expressed shock as they urged the authorities to speedily get to the root cause of the fire.
At the same time, Embu County Women Representative Pamela Njoki Njeru while addressing mourners at the scene of incident has called on locals to help with any information on the incident that happened in the wee hours of the night.
“We actually don’t know whether this was an accident or a criminal activity committed by criminals but we ask the locals to come out and give information so that we can know the cause of this incident.” She observed.
