Kalonzo lashes out at President Ruto over no inclusion of opposition in government remarks
Azimio One Kenya Coalition has lashed out to President William Ruto over remarks that opposition will not be included in government.
Azimio co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka and Raila Odinga hit back at Ruto’s remarks stating that the coalition party leaders are not interested in any government positions in his Cabinet.
“Let it be known that the leaders in Azimio are not interested in any jobs whatsoever from the Executive. We already have a lot of work to do in keeping the government in check,” Kalonzo said.
Speaking earlier in Naivasha during a parliamentary group retreat, Ruto claimed that the opposition party is of importance as it would keep the government on its toes therefore no need of appointing them.
“We have accepted that we are not going to appoint any member of the opposition in government because we want a vibrant opposition. We want an opposition that will keep the government in check because we have nothing to hide and we want to run an accountable government.” Ruto said.
They said that they are ready to play their role in the opposition.
Kalonzo said Ruto’s government has commenced on a wrong footing by failing to subsidise foodstuffs.
He also criticised the move made by the President to allocate the judiciary token funds to move forward with the agenda of it being independent. He denounced it as a mockery and said that the legislature should be left to perform its work.
