Final Submission: I’ll continue with the handshake doctrine, Raila vows

Azimio-One Kenya coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga has vowed to shake the hands of his opponents if he wins or loses.

Speaking during his last submission at Kasarani Stadium, Odinga said there is a choice of the promised land, though the land of bondage is also within sight.

“I want to assure Kenyans that I will continue with this handshake doctrine, the doctrine of unclenching the fist. For the sake of Kenya, I will shake the hand of my rivals and pay the political price if I have to,” he said

Odinga further noted he has seen Canaan in sight urged his multitude of supporters

to turn up in large numbers on August 9 and cast their votes to ensure he, alongside his running mate Martha Karua, ascend to the presidency.

 “We are soon entering Canaan and there is a rule we will have to observe. in Canaan, we must embrace reconciliation. we cannot get to Canaan a divided nation that is half bitter and half happy. in my government, there will be no revenge. I pledge to be the president of all. I have made this decision because I did not choose my liberation cause. The liberation cause chose me,” he said.

The leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Odinga, sang the Redemption Song while rallying Kenyans to vote for him.

“We are on the verge of a major triumph. Raila Amolo Odinga and I have visited Canaan, the land of milk and honey…’ No woman, no cry’ country. I’ve seen the Promised Land, the setting for The Redemption Song “He stated.

“But my hand was made strong, by the hand of the almighty, we forward in this generation… gloriously,” Raila sang.”

“Will you join me in singing these songs of liberation, for all I’ve ever had were Redemption songs… But we all know that “…the battle is harder when success is closest.”

Odinga lauded Mama Ida terming her the strongest woman alive highlighting she is among those who have stood by him in his struggle to liberate the country but gave Ida special mention.

” She is the mother to our four children, the pillar to our family and secret weapon to our combined strength. I wish especially to thank the strongest human being known to me. her excellency Dr Ida Betty Anyango Odinga,” he said.
