Former Nyatike MP charged with attempted murder in Migori

Former Nyatike Member of Parliament (MP) Edick Omondi Anyanga has been arrested after he allegedly shot a man in Migori County.
He was charged in court with attempted murder.
The former legislator, however, denied the charges while appearing before Senior Magistrate Johnson Mungiti.
He has been released on a cash bail of Sh300,000 or Sh1 million bond of the same surety.
The case will be mentioned on August, 25 this year.
Anyanga is accused of attempting to kill Justus Ochieng by shooting him with his pistol at Lwanda Shopping Centre within Nyatike Constituency.
The accused is contesting and hopes to recapture his former seat on a UPIA ticket.
Anyanga’s pistol was confiscated last week after the incident.
The victim was operated on last week to remove the bullet lodged in his hip and is recuperating in the hospital.
