KANU recommends Kalonzo to deputise Raila ahead of today’s panel

The Kenya African National Union (KANU) Party leader Gideon Moi has recommended Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to deputise Raila Odinga ahead of today’s panel.

Through a letter to the Azimio One Kenya Coalition running mate selection panel, Moi said the former Vice President is more qualified amongst those mentioned as possible Raila’s running mate.

“The Kenya African National Union (KANU) proposes and submits the name of H.E Hon. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka as its preferred candidate for the position of Deputy President in the forthcoming General Election,” Moi said.

“It is our considered opinion, and we strongly believe that Stephen Kalonzo fits the bill and is the most suitable to deputise Raila Amolo Odinga. It is our sincere hope that this panel will consider and find him appropriate for the position of the Deputy President and consequently recommend his selection,” he added.

Azimio parties were given up to today to submit names of potential candidates to the panel.

The Committee chairperson Dr Noah Wekesa yesterday said they will only consider candidates who are members of the coalition.

“The committee shall only consider candidates who are members of the constituent parties of the Azimio One Kenya Alliance,” said Wekesa.

The seven-member panel was formed last week to flaunt a running mate candidate to Raila.

It consists of Bishop Peter Njenga, Archbishop Zacchaeus Okoth, Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua, Michael Orwa, Noah Wekesa, Sheikh Mohamed Khalifa and Beatrice Askul Moe who are expected to present “a name, or names of the running mate candidate by May 10.
