President Kenyatta sends message of goodwill to Muslims as they celebrate Eid-ul Fitr

President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a message of goodwill to Muslims across the country as they celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.

Eid is one of the biggest celebrations in the Muslim calendar and today and tomorrow, many Muslims will attend Eid prayers at their mosque.

“To all our Muslim brothers and sisters, as we mark the end of the Holy Month of Ramadhan today, it gives me great pleasure to send you this message of goodwill and best wishes as you celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr,” he said.

The President said Eid-ul Fitr is a time to rejoice having fulfilled the command of Allah (the most Merciful and Gracious) adding that it is also a time to share with the less fortunate in keeping with the teachings of the Holy Quran and Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).

“Even though the Holy Month of Ramadhan has come to an end, I urge all Muslims to keep praying for the country as we head towards elections,” Kenyatta said.

He urged Kenyans to maintain peace ahead of the forthcoming elections.

“May Allah, the Most Merciful and Gracious, grant you peace, health and joy on this day.”

Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga also shared best wishes messages to Muslims across the country as they celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.

On his part, Raila sent his wishes to Muslims, that their prayers during the holy month be answered.

Chief Justice Martha Koome sent a message of peace, love and happiness as Muslims mark Eid-Ul-Fitr.

President Matiang’i gazetted tomorrow as a public holiday to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.
