Two police impersonators arrested

Following a series of investigations, two suspects dressed as anti-corruption officials are being held by police after storming into the office of one Isaac Wandere a day ago, seemingly to investigate a land fraud case.

The two were arrested after they gained entry into the Wander Joy Party headquarters along Kiambu road and began harassing its proprietor, demanding a bribe to allegedly slow down on a land fraud case against him.

They were led by Gordwins Agutu, a serial fraudster with previous run-ins with the law.

The suspects, were driving two top-of-the-line vehicles outfitted with strobe lights and well-built men hanging precariously on the doors of the vehicles, forced their way into the premises causing commotion.

The self-styled anti-corruption director and his accomplice David Mburu, introduced himself as the anti-corruption deputy director.

Detectives from Director of Criminal Investigation(DCI) discovered that Agutu had previously been arrested in September 2017 while posing as someone else posing as a Senior Superintendent of Police assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division.

He also had two other employment cards, both of which indicated that he held senior management positions at the Kenya Revenue Authority and the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board.

While posing as a surveillance officer for the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, the suspect is accused of closing down several hospitals for allegedly failing to meet certain regulatory requirements.

On January 26, 2022, Agutu, accompanied by his rogue gang, went to the Sidai Oleng club on Kiambu Road and attempted to kidnap its owner, John Ngugi, over undisclosed investigative cases that he was conducting against him.
