Jimmy Wanjigi accuses Raila of betrayal

Businessman Jimmy Richard Wanjigi has accused Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga of betraying him and forgetting the many years he was on his side.

Speaking at Milimani law courts after his release from police custody unconditionally, Wanjigi said he will not succumb to intimidation and threats saying his arrest had nothing to do with land but his political stand.

“My good friend Raila Odinga has betrayed all of us. Kenyans deserve a leader who puts their interest first. Economic liberation is my promise to all Kenyans. The time for true leadership has come,” he said.

Wanjigi expressed his disregard towards the handshake between President Uhuru and Raila saying the latter has forgotten his lieutenants for his own gain.

“The betrayal began with the handshake in 2018. My good friend Raila Odinga chose to forget what we fought for. He alone chose to put personal interest ahead of Kenyans interest,” he noted.

He recapped the experience they had in 2017 how they stood by Raila, in solidarity after elections among them Miguna Miguna have suffered while the ODM Party Leader is enjoying state power and protection.

Wanjigi who was arrested Tuesday evening at his Kwacha offices after a night standoff with the police was released after the Magistrate ruled that he could not be charged until a matter he has filed challenging his arrest and prosecution is heard and determined.
