The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has directed Inspector General of police Hilary Mutyambai to institute an investigation into the Facebook accounts and group of Lamu County Politics Unlimited Group.
The group that constitutes of twelve individuals is said to have published inciteful contents towards certain ethnic group.
The twelve are; Catherine Dylan, Cyte Nimz Maina, Muthoni Martha, Lucy Peter, Antony Mambo, Njeri E Mwaniki, Frank Mwangi, Josh Mhumble, Alphaken Madiba, Paul Keta Sikujua, David Brighton and Ndiragu Kenn.
“The aforementioned persons published content that may be incite feelings of contempt, hatred, hostility, violence or discrimination towards certain ethnic groups,’’ he said.
Haji said the 12 have published content that may incite members of the public into violence or discrimination against a particular ethnic community.
The chief prosecutor recently ordered a probe into Kericho senator Aaron Cheruiyot and Abubakar Amana’s remarks perceived to be inciteful.
Four suspects have been arrested over Lamu attack in where six people were killed in an attack linked to Al Shabaab militants.
Police said they are also investigating to establish if the attack is linked to a land dispute in the region pitting locals and people perceived to be non-locals.
The government had imposed thirty-days dusk to dawn curfew in parts of the county affected by insecurity.
The affected areas in Lamu West Sub County are Mukunumbi Division, Majembeni location, Ndamwe Location, Mkunumbi Location; Witu Division, Pandanguo Location, Binde Warinde location 2, Witu location, Hamasi Location, Mpeketoni Division; Bomani Location, Pongwe Location, Mpeketoni Location, Bahari Location and Mapenya Location.
In Lamu Central Subcounty, Hindi location in Hindi Division was affected.
