Iranian terrorist arrested in Nairobi for planning terror attacks against Israeli targets

Officers attached to the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) yesterday nabbed a terror suspect who is believed was planning terror attacks in Nairobi.

The suspect Mohammed Saeid Golabi, who is an Iranian national, is believed to have been orchestrating terror attacks plans against locals and Israeli interests in the country with the help of other Kenyan individuals.

A source attached to ATPU said that the suspect was closely being monitored believing he had something to do with terrorism.

“We have profiled him and his contacts over time. We have enough reason to believe that he has been working with those terror groups,” a senior official at ATPU said.

They said that the Kenyans were assisting the terror suspect in gathering intelligence in the country.

The arrest comes at a time when has been on a high-security alert after twin bomb in Uganda in which three people were killed and 33 wounded.

Security has been beefed up in all installations and towns across Kenya and along the border points.

“The National Police Service (NPS) assures the public of their security and safety following terror-related incidents in our neighbouring country earlier today. Our sympathies to victims and families who were affected by such an atrocious act,” said the police.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i said that the government would remain on high alert to prevent any crisis.
