Two chinese jailed for 1 year for violently attacking their compatriot

Two Chinese businessmen were yesterday convicted for violently attacking their compatriot over a bet.
Gu Xiong and Jin Ping were were accused of seriously injuring Dong Chen Pang
whom they allegedly beat up on May 16 at Kingston Apartments along Ng’ong Road, Nairobi.
Senior principal magistrate Charles Mwaniki ordered each to pay a Sh100,000 fine and in default, he ruled that the two will serve one year in jail.
“I have considered the mitigations from the accused and the nature and the circumstances of the offence. The accused has saved the judicial time by pleading guilty and this suggests that they have undergone considerable introspection and that they are remorseful. Nonetheless they admitted a crime and injury resulted from it. A deterrent sentence is called. I hereby sentence each of them to pay a fine of Sh100,000 or serve one year in jail,” ruled the magistrate.
According to the prosecution, the accused and the complainant were at the Kingstone apartment in Kilimani playing a game called Magician.
“…which is of the gambling nature, and the owner of the game left them there, the accused and the complainant then disagreed and an argument ensued,” said the prosecution.
The court heard that the argument turned physical and the second accused hit the complainant with the fist on his face injuring his left eye.
The accused pleaded guilty to charges of injuring their compatriot by knocking out his teeth and gored his eyes.
