Wiper to decide whether to leave NASA or not tomorrow
Wiper Party is today expected make its final position tomorrow on whether it will remain in National Super Alliance (Nasa) or leave, after an ultimatum for its leader, Kalonzo Muysoka to be named the coalition flag bearer, expired at midnight.
The body language by top Wiper leaders yesterday betrayed a grudge against the coalition, as Kalonzo pulled out of a planned meeting retreat for the four Nasa leaders, saying he had another engagement.
National Assembly Minority leader Francis Nyenze said today in a media confrence the Nasa partners had until last midnight to name Kalonzo or Wiper would make a final decision.
“The party will tomorrow (Thursday) make a major announcement that will give direction on the party’s way forward if the coalition fails to pick Kalonzo its presidential torch bearer,” said Nyenze, who is also the Kitui West Member of Parliament.
And speaking at Wiper House, Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka affirmed Nyenze’s stand over the ultimatum saying the legislator was in order to talk the way he did.
“Nyenze was absolutely in order to speak the way he did because even our partner parties have also been speaking the same way,” said Kalonzo.
Kalonzo, who was accompanied by Wiper Secretary General Omar Hassan, however, avoided the issue of the party’s next move after the ultimatum expiry, only saying the Nasa twelve-member-committee to pick the flag-bearer is still meeting over the candidate issue.
