Police launch manhunt for gunman who shot two officers, woman at club

Police in Nairobi have launched a manhunt  for a gunman who shot and injured two police officers and a woman inside Quivers Lounge along Thika Road, Nairobi.

Attending a party for a senior police officer, the gunman identified as Dickson Mararo injured constable Festus Musyoka attached to Starehe Directorate of Criminal Investigations in the neck, Constable Lawrence Muturi attached to Kasarani Petty Crime Unit in the hand and the woman was shot in the stomach.

Kasarani police boss Peter Mwazo said they will question the officers once they recover.

According to him, they had talked to witnesses who have cooperated in many ways.

“Two of the victims are in serious condition while the other is stable. We are seeking to get the owner of the car to know who had it on that day,” Mwazo said.

On Friday, officers from Kasarani Police Station received a report that the two officers allegedly had an argument over a woman.

The shooting captured on CCTV cameras at the club, shows the man approaching the two officers and after a brief conversation, he draws his gun and fires three times.

The gunman was then seen rushing to his car in the parking lot and droving off as patrons ran for safety.

The officers and the woman fell to the ground.

The officer shot in the neck and the woman were rushed to Nehema Uhai Hospital for first aid. The officer was transferred to Nairobi Hospital for treatment.

The other officer with a hand wound checked himself into Radiant Hospital in Pangani where he was treated and discharged.

Detectives have collected spent cartridges from the scene for analysis.
