Five suspects arrested for attempting to rob Prime Bank in Kamukunji

A gang of five suspected to be plotting a covert bank robbery have been arrested and detained at Kamukunji Police Station pending to be arraigned to face charges of planning to execute a bank heist.
Preliminary police investigations show they were targeting Prime Bank OTC branch before the botched plot was foiled.
Charles Mulo, Fredrick Muderwa, Jesse Muriuki, Gabriel Mungai and Reuben Njuka were arrested by a team of officers from Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) and Kamukunji police Station as they were about to break into the bank located at Angle House along Ukwala lane, in downtown Nairobi.
According to detectives, the five criminals had booked themselves into guest rooms at the said building, which shares the same wall with the bank.
“They had planned to drill their way into the bank in the dead of the night. However detectives got wind of the plan and spoilt their party! They stormed into the building with a thud forcing the thugs to scamper, taking cover in the ceiling like cornered rats,” they said.
However, detectives brought the ceiling down, exposing the five who clung on the roof trusses for dear life.
With no other option, the suspects surrendered into the good hands of the officers.
The detectives managed to recover three hacksaws, one knotted twisted rope, one metal driller, five metal bars, one metal cutter scissors and one suitcase.
The suspects were booked at Kamukunji police station awaiting arraignment in court.
