Kenyan basketball player Oyugi who went missing in Minnesota found dead

A Kenyan basketball player who went missing in Minnesota over two weeks ago has been found dead.

The 26-year-old Keegan Oyugi  was found dead in a single-vehicle crash in the south metro.

Police from Minnetrista Police Department say they have identified the vehicle belongs to Oyugi, who had disappeared on June 12.

“As we await formal identification from the medical examiner’s office, our thoughts and prayers go out to the Oyugi family,” the police said.

According to the police, they found his body buckled in the car seat.

The vehicle was upside down and apparently hit a tree.

Prior to his disappearance, Oyugi had sent a text to his younger brother that he was going back to his home in St. Bonifacius after leaving the Prior Lake/Savage area, according to the Minnetrista Public Safety Department.

However, he did not make it home.

Kenyans living in Minnesota had organised a search for Oyugi.

Oyugi graduated from Wichita Southeast High School and went on to play basketball at Neosho County Community College in Kansas.

He then moved to Minnesota in 2017 to enroll at Crown College .

Oyugi, a former Kenya Ports Authority star, played basketball for Crown College from 2017 and was planning to play professionally in Kenya later this year.
