Suspect linked to macabre killings, serial rape of women and children in Nyandarua arrested

A notorious suspect linked to nine macabre killings and rape involving women and children in Nyandarua County has been arrested.

According to investigators, Samuel Ngige has been on the run since last year but was arrested in Naivasha town.

He has been in hiding for the last six months.

Nyandarua West Sub-County Police Commander (SCPC) Wanyama Nyongesa said that Ngige confessed to two  murders; Ms. Eunice Muthoni Ndung’u and her 5-year old daughter Linet Njeri on April 23 last year by hacking them with a machete.

The suspect is reported to have confessed to accessing the house where the two lived with other children in Chekaleri village, Oljororok.

He allegedly told police that he dug a tunnel through the wall of their mud house.

The 30-year-old woman and her daughter, a grade one pupil, succumbed to head injuries while undergoing treatment at the Nyahururu County Referral Hospital.

Police data indicates that about nine people, most of them women and children, were murdered in the area in a span of six months in 2020.

The suspect is also reported to have confessed to killing 23-year-old Alice Wanjiru in a similar manner on March 25, 2020 in Gatumbiro village, Ol-Joro-Orok constituency.
