Education cabinet secretary Dr.Fred Matiangi has advised youth who did not attain university entry grades to join youth polytechnic institutions.
Matinag’i challenged the youth to change their negative attitudes towards polytechnic saying technical experts are produced from polytechnic institutions.
The CS said the country was forced to hire people with technical skills to work at the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway from foreign countries because of the shortage Kenya has in the technical field.
Addressing the youth at Kebabe girls school in North Mugirango constituency in Nyamira county, Matiangi said graduates from polytechnics do not have to tarmac looking for jobs unlike university graduates.
“There are several people who have masters in different disciplines and have stayed at home for over ten years without jobs, “ he said.
