Senators receive Sh2m each to impeach me, claims Sonko

Ousted former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has sensationally claimed without providing any proof that the government bribed senators Sh2 million as a Christmas token to impeach him.

Sonko’s assertions are widely interpreted as a deliberate onslaught to the government and Head of State.

In a tweet, the besieged former county boss claimed that the money was offered during the vote to breach the law.

“During the voting exercise sh 2 Million was offered by the state for Christmas so that the law can be breached,” he stated.

He also noted that he was ousted because his father was not a prominent figure in Kenyan politics.

“Some of my former colleague’s in@Senate_KE had to sacrifice me coz of political pressure from their party bosses who personally called them one by one to impeach me because I was not born in Statehouse and my father was not President nor Prime Minister and Vice President as well,” he lamented.

According to the former Nairobi Governor, his wife and daughter’s trip to the US was state-approved and no taxpayers’ money was used to fund the trip.

“To my beautiful wife and daughter whose names were dragged into this mess while the trip was state-approved continue to be strong women, you’ve never done any business with @NairobiCityGov or won tenders with Kemsa in the #CovidBillionaires scandal to enrich ourselves or our family (sic),” he continued.

Sonko asked his supporters not to give up on their dreams, saying he would continue standing with them.

“To all my people and supporters who have been believing and standing with me throughout my 10 years political journey, I encourage you to promise yourself, no matter how hard it gets, do not give up on your dreams, no matter what happened or happens to me, I will stand with you and I will continue supporting you whenever you are in need,” he said.

“The greatest tragedy in life is not getting knocked down. The greatest tragedy in life is refusing to get up after being knocked down. Today I may appear down but I’m not because I know my victory is soon coming back,” he posted.

He concluded by wishing his supporters a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
