Families of passengers, crew on missing plane arrive in Aberdares

Family and friends of the 8 passengers and two crew onboard the missing Fly SAX plane have arrived in the Aberdares.

A hearse from the Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi was also seen driving into the compound where they are waiting for information on their loved ones.

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) indicated that phone signals of the two female pilots were traced to Njabini area in Kinangop.

A multi-agency search and rescue operation is currently underway for the plane that disappeared from the radar on Tuesday evening.

According to the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), the search that began immediately the plane went missing had to be stopped due to poor weather conditions.

On Wednesday morning, the operation resumed with KCAA saying they would issue further updates on the same.

The Cesna C208 plane with registration number 5Y CAC has a capacity of 12 passengers but only had eight onboard.

Friends and family had on Tuesday been urged to meet at the Weston Hotel in Nairobi for more information and an emergency telephone number issued.
