Cargo owners will enjoy a three-month flat rate for SGR freight services launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta last month.
This comes after Transport CS James Macharia approved a request for the promotional tariff to enable users experience the new service.
Kenya Railways will now charge a flat rate of Sh64, 500 for a 20-foot container and Sh84,300 for a 40-foot container.
This will include freight, handling charges and returning of empty containers from Nairobi to Mombasa.
