Siaya Governor Rasanga to fire 150 county employees

Siaya county workers may lose their jobs for being absent when Governor Cornell Rasanga led an impromptu headcount.

The ambush in Siaya town on Wednesday saw Rasanga inspect service delivery. He visited the health, procurement, finance, education, roads and public works and lands offices.

To his surprise, about 150 workers were not at their stations.

Rasanga regretted the absenteeism and immediately directed human resources director Dismas Obondo to draft show-cause letters for all the workers.

“We cannot entertain county government staff who derail service delivery by absconding duty without permission from their immediate bosses.”

The county boss said those who were not at work will lose their jobs if they do not give good reasons.

“Those with no tangible reasons as to why they were not on duty will face the wrath of being sacked or having their salaries chopped.”
