Jubilee Party SG Kioni cry foul, allege election rigging by UDA in Mount Kenya region

Hours after suffering humiliating defeat in the just concluded general elections, Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni is now crying foul alleging subtle rigging by the rival United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party within the Mount Kenya region.

He claimed the President Uhuru Kenyatta’s led party was unfairly defeated by his deputy’s William Ruto formation UDA.

While addressing the media at Jubilee headquarters earlier today, Kioni, immediate former Ndaragwa legislator who was defeated by his UDA rival dismissed the claimed UDA wave in the region.

“We have learnt of massive subtle rigging scheme that took place in 33 constituencies of Mt Kenya for the parliamentary seat,” he said.

The SG indicated that some agents in some polling centers confirmed that there was voter bribery, intimidation and display of UDA campaign materials.

According to provisional results, almost all elective positions in Murang’a county appeared to be taken by UDA candidates.

Ndindi Nyoro won Kiharu parliamentary seat while Alice Wahome won Kandara parliamentary seat.

In Kigumo Constituency, Joseph Munyoro is ahead while Peter Kihungi is ahead in Kangema Constituency.

In Nyeri county, Njoroge Wainaina won Kieni parliamentary seat, (Othaya) Michael Wambugu Wainaina, and John Kaguchia (Mukurwe-ini).

Nakuru county, (Gilgil Constituency) Martha Wangare, (Naivasha) Jane Kihara, and (Molo Constituency) Francis Kuria Kimani.

In Kiambu, Peter Mwathi who chaired the powerful Security Committee in Parliament lost to Chege Kiragu, the man ousted in the last election.

In Ruiru, Simon King’ara (UDA) had a wide lead over his closest rival Esther Gathogo (Jubilee) while in Thika, UDA’s Alice Ng’ang’a was ahead of David Gakuyo of Jubilee.

In Kiambu Town, the outgoing MP Jude Njomo (Jubilee) was trailing UDA’s Machua Waithaika while in Kiambaa, the incumbent Kawanjiku Njuguna (UDA) had opened a lead over Damaris Waiganjo of Jubilee.

Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa (UDA) had a strong lead over Jubilee’s Owen Gitau.

In Juja, George Koimburi who is defending the seat on a UDA ticket was way ahead of Aloise Kinyanjui and Joseph Ng’ang’a ‘Mustard’ (Independent).
