PS nominees set to be vetted by Parliament tomorrow

The 52 nominated Principal Secretaries have been scheduled to appear before the National Assembly for vetting starting tomorrow.

The nominees will be vetted by various departmental committees unlike the Cabinet Secretaries who were vetted by the Committee on Appointments chaired by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula.

PS nominee to the State Department for Cabinet Affairs, Julius Korir will be the first to appear before the Committee on Administration and Internal Affairs chaired by Narok West legislator Gabriel Tongoyo.

PS nominee in the State Department of Crops will also be vetted by the Committee on Agriculture at the same time.

He is expected to answer questions related to the current drought situation and how to curb food shortage in the country.

Meanwhile Chris Kiptoo, PS nominee for National Treasury will appear for vetting before the Committee on Finance and Planning.

Kiptoo is among PS nominees who were retained by President William Ruto.

PS nominee to the Interior docket Raymond Omollo will face MPs tomorrow at 11.30 to tackle security issues at a time where the country is facing all manners of insecurity while his counterpart Harry Kimutai nominee in the State Department for Livestock Development will be facing the Committee on Agriculture.

PS nominee in the State Department for Economic Planning, James Muhati will also be expected to defend his nomination before the Committee on Finance and Planning.

Muhati is the former ICT director at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The vetting is scheduled to finish on November 18 and committees expected to table their reports in House by November 24.
