322 more patients have recovered from Covid-19 as the country records 866 new positive cases

The country has today recorded 866 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of a sample size of 7,815 in the last 24 hours.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said that the new cases brings the national total tally of confirmed infections to 87,249.

From the new cases reported, 828 are Kenyans and 38 foreigners among them 525 males and 341 females.

The cumulative tests since March stand at 919,411.

Out of the confirmed cases, the youngest is a three-month-old infant while the oldest is aged 100 years.

CS Kagwe confirmed that 322 have recovered out of which 259 are from Home Based Care program bringing the total recoveries to 68,110. 63 others have been discharged from various hospitals.

However, 1,194 patients are admitted in hospitals countrywide and an additional 7,984 under Home Based Isolation and Care.

77 patients are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) out of which 31 are on ventilatory support.

Further, 67 patients are under oxygen support 57 of whom are in general wards and 10 others in High Dependency Unit (HDU).

The cumulative fatalities has risen to 1,506 after six patients succumbed to the virus.

Nairobi continue to sustain the highest infection index since March with 273 cases reported in the last 24 hours followed by Mombasa and Nakuru at 78 and 73 cases respectively.

Kiambu 55, Kirinyaga 49, Nyamira 35, Kisumu 27, Kilifi 23, Kajiado 23, Uasin Gishu 21, Nyeri 21, Meru 19, Kericho 18, Busia 16, Machakos 15, Kisii 13, Bomet 12 and Tana River 11. Siaya 11, Migori 10, Taita Taveta 9, Laikipia 9, Bungoma 8, Baringo 8, Muranga 4, Embu 4, Homa Bay 3, Vihiga 3, Kitui 3, Lamu 3, Garissa 2 and Nandi 2.

Narok, Wajir, Makuemi and Isiolo has single cases each.
