Obado fail to abide by court order to surrender State cars
Former Migori governor, Okoth Obado is yet to surrender the State cars obtained using embezzled funds from the county government.
In a hearing by the anti-corruption court yesterday, Lawyer Suge Jemutai of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) informed Justice Esther Maina that Obado, his four children Dan Ochola, Evelyne Adhiambo Zachary, Scarlet Susan Okoth and Jerry Zachary Okoth and businessman Oliver Okeno Odhiambo were yet to comply with the court orders issued on July 21 this year.
The court had ordered them to surrender three motor vehicles as well as their logbooks to EACC within seven days awaiting determination of the suit filed by the EACC.
“The respondents have partially complied with the court orders. They have only surrendered one motor vehicle,” Jemutai said.
The judge told the lawyer to file a formal application to push Obado and his children to comply with the court orders.
The commission also told the judge that it will produce 25 witnesses to prove how Obado, his children, and Peter Odonyo managed to acquire Sh73.5 million illegally.
However, the judge granted Obado, his alleged accomplices and companies 3 weeks to file their responses to the application to have their assets surrendered.
