Atwoli hits out at Sifuna of undermining ODM
Senator accused of openly Atwoli of defying his boss regarding the support for the broad-based government
Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has asked Orange Democratic leader Raila Odinga to kick out its Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.
Speaking in Western Kenya, Atwoli urged the former Prime Minister to crack a whip and put a way forward for ODM party members.
He particularly called for action against SG and Nairobi C

“I have an eight-year-old daughter, and she was asking me, ‘Why does Atwoli want the animals to be removed from the National Park, yet we love those animals?’,” Sifuna said.
“I wanted Atwoli to be here to ask him this question: why do you want the Nairobi National Park to be removed after you had an opportunity to take your wives children and grandchildren, and now that you are old, why don’t you want the younger generation to enjoy the same,” the Senator boldly asked infronted of the ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
“I want to tell my in-law, Raila Odinga, to tell Sifuna to leave if he is tired of ODM. He should stop defying Raila and his party when he is still inside. He should not purport to speak for the Luhya community. We had Martine Shikuku, who ran KANU so well as the secretary general. We want such leaders. We don’t want restless leaders who pretend to know it all while in the real sense they don’t,” Atwoli asked Raila.
His remarks came hours after Raila defended his party’s SG, saying he has a right to speak as the ODM party gives him the democratic right.
According to Raila, Sifuna has a right to express his opinions, whether they are different from what other leaders think or not.
“Everybody has a right to speak their mind. That is democracy, and that is what ODM stands for; there will be differences of opinion, and that is okay. If Sifuna has spoken, he has a right to do so, and if you differ with him, then speak out,” Raila said.
The former Prime Minister went further to challenge the leaders attacking Sifuna to share their opinions instead of attacking.
Appearing in an interview on local TV last week, Sifuna elicited heated debate after he confessed that ODM was confused about the agreement they had with Kenya Kwanza, and that, as it stands, the agreement was not being followed.
The Nairobi legislator also declared the agreement expired.
