17 suspects on Raila chopper attack to face murder charges
The seventeen suspects who are in police custody over the stoning of Azimio La Umoja presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga’s chopper in Uasin Gichu county will be charged on April 14.
This is after the prosecutions requested a further 14 days to allow the police to complete investigations on the damaged chopper, whose value could exceed Sh300 million.
Information received by The Informer reveals that there might have been involvement of key political leaders in the region in the incident.
According to the security apparatus present during the arrest, most suspects had money in Sh50 denominations.
The helicopter carrying the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate was stoned at the Mzee Jackson Kibor’s farm after his burial in Kabenes, Uasin Gishu county.
The suspects produced in court include Abednego Kiptanui, Godwin Kipchirchir, Abraham Chemja, Rodgers Kiplimo, Sammy Keter, Elvis Kipkoech, Moses Bahati, Edwin Cheruiyot, William Samal Erupe, Cleophas Cheboi, Peris Maiyo, Elias Kiplagat, Eliud Kimeli, Kiplagat Chumba, Kenneth Sawe, Kipkorir Muge, and Collins Cheboi.
