Kirinyaga county governor Joseph Ndathi has asked area residents to desist from engaging in multiple political party registration or else they risk being disqualified from participating in the forthcoming party primaries.
He said once the IEBC receives the names of the respective party members and compiles its list, those found to have made double or multiple registrations will certainly be disqualified.
Speaking at Kirwara village in Mwea West Sub-County today, Ndathi told the residents since the mass voter registration ended on Sunday; the next business is party recruitment drive.
“My business from today is to move from door to door recruiting Jubilee party members who will in turn vote for me during the primaries in readiness for the August 8 general elections,’’ he said.
He said the small parties in Mt Kenya region should not make the Jubilee supporters lose focus since the entry into the area is only meant to create side shows.
“The party of choice in Mt Kenya region is Jubilee and those who have been peddling false hoods that I am preparing to ditch the party and join the small ones are just day dreamers,” he said.
Ndathi wondered how a big river would join a small one as those intimating that he was about to ditch Jubilee were only talking about an imagined impossibility.
He told his opponents not to panic since he is steadily in the Jubilee Party and ready for a political combat with whomever thinks he or she can match his style.
The governor said the county was able to attain 200,000 new registered voters during the just ended voter registration exercise.
