The police service, which is under Fred Matiang’i’s Interior ministry, remains the most corrupt public institution and is followed by the traffic department.
In the EACC’s 2016 Corruption Index, the State Department of Interior, public hospitals, the Immigration department and the CDF follow in that order.
The Health ministry is the second most corrupt ministry and is respectively followed by Devolution, Education, Transport and Treasur.
According to the report, Lamu is the least corrupt county and is followed by Taita Taveta, Tana River and Kericho counties.
The report indicates that most corruption cases in the counties are reported in public works, education, childcare and medical services areas, finance and procurement departments.
The commission reported a10 per cent drop in the level of trust Kenyans have in the government’s commitment to fighting graft.
