President Ruto preside over swearing in of CS nominees
President William Ruto has today presided over the swearing in ceremony of the appointed Cabinet Secretary nominees at State House Nairobi.
The sworn in CSs were approved by the National Assembly yesterday following a week’s vetting by the Committee on Appointments.
Ruto’s cabinet now includes Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who will coordinate legislative policy and chair Principal Secretary Committees to supervise the delivery of government projects.
The sworn in CSs include Aden Duale (Defense), Simon Chelugui (Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development), Alice Wahome (Water, Sanitation and Irrigation), former Tharaka Nithi Senator Professor Kithure Kindiki (Interior and National Administration), former Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria (Trade, Investment and Industry), Susan Nakhumicha (Health), Kipchumba Murkomen (Roads, Transport and Public Works), former Narok woman representative Soipan Tuya (Environment and Forestry), former Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Governor Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u (National Treasury and Planning), and former Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu (Education), Peninah Malonza (Tourism).
Despite division of the CoA’s decision on the appointment of Aisha Jumwa and former Meru governor Mithika Linturi due to their pending cases in court, they have been sworn in as CS Public Service and Affirmative Action and Agriculture respectively.
Former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi becomes the country’s eighth Attorney General taking up the reign from Kihara Kariuki.
Mercy Wanjau takes office as Secretary to the Cabinet.
Felix Koskei becomes Head of Public Service and Chief of Staff as Joseph Kinyua exits.
Their swearing in brings an end to Immediate former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s appointed CS’s tenure which however excludes Chelugui who has been retained in Ruto’s administration but with a different docket.
