Wahu: I regret studying Maths in campus
Just like the artiste she is, Kenyan singer Wahu Kagwi regrets to have pursued Maths in her undergraduate studies.
During an interactive engagement with her followers on social media, the Sweet Love hitmaker explained that her lack of passion for Math emanated from being more inclined toward the arts.
“I regret doing my first degree in BSc Maths… I should have pursued communication instead. But alas, haidhuru, imenitoka… I wasn’t as passionate about math as I was about the arts, and that was the issue. I’m more of a creative than a scientist.” Wahu wrote.
However, the mother of three —who already holds a Master’s degree—intimated about her desire to further her knowledge by pursuing a PhD.
Wahu stressed the importance of pursuing work that resonates with one’s interests while also considering financial viability.
“It’s easier to make money doing what you love than forcing yourself to love something just because it makes money.” She added.
The singer also shared the advice she gives her children saying: “I keep telling my kids it’s one thing to love something, but it’s another to make money from it… because bills are real. Finding something—or even multiple things—you love to do and using that to make ends meet is a blessing and a beautiful goal to work towards.”
Wahu, who is married to her university sweetheart and fellow singer David Mathenge aka Nameless, advised others to consider aligning their studies and careers with their passions.
“Find out what your nieces are passionate about, and see where their passion meets profit.” She suggested.
