Transport CS Macharia appoints Emile Nguza as new KCAA boss 

Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia has appointed Emile Nguza Arao as new director general of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) for a period of three years. His appointment takes effect from April 22, 2022. 

Nguza replaces Gilbert Kibe who retires after serving two terms at the helm of the agency. 

“Following a diligent and successful recruitment process by the Board of Directors at the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Emile Nguza Arao as the new Director-General of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, with effect from April 22,” Macharia said in a statement. 

Macharia has described the incoming DG as ‘a highly talented and accomplished aviation professional holding his Bachelor’s degree in Aircraft Engineering Technology’. 

He added, “He also has a Master’s in Business Administration in Aviation with a specialisation in Aviation Systems Mgt both obtained from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University USA.” 

Prior to his appointment Nguza, a US trained aircraft engineer and aviation veteran and businessman, headed the East African Civil Aviation Safety and Security Oversight Agency (EAC-Cassoa). 

The Entebbe-based Cassoa is an institution of the East African Community bloc established to promote air safety and civil aviation development.
