Shabana stun Tusker as Homeboyz finally feel relieved
The Gusii stadium cheers and jeers were loud for all to grasp as visiting Tusker FC succumbed to a 2-1 loss today in a FKF-Premier League match.
The 13times Champions Tusker under Charles Okere were hoping to frog-jumping leaders KCB FC who had an off day but that was not to be as Tore Bobe had other plans. The Brewers who are second on the log with 27 points opened their account in the 11th minute courtesy of a powerful Captain Charles Momanyi header to silence the home crowd. However the hosts buoyed by heavy support from their fans piled pressured on the opponents.
Two goals in the second half via Dennis Okoth and Ezekiel Omuri was enough to send the title contenders back home to Nairobi without a single point as the home side celebrated with pomp. This was a game of missed opportunities but ultimately Shabana held on firm to move to fifth place on 23 points in 16 matches. In the past five games, they have picked 10 points out of a possible 15.Incidentally the Brewers with a current goal difference of +6 have conceded the most goals (21) conceded in the division despite being second on the log.
Meanwhile Kakamega Homeboyz FC ended a four match winless run after posting an important 1-0 away victory against relegation threatened FC Talanta at Kenyatta Stadium. Homeboyz left it late to score the all-important goal in the 75th minute against Pius Wangi against the run of play. The win means the western team is up to 11th place with 19 points in the bag after 16 games with Coach Francis Baraza hoping for resurgence here on. As for Talanta in 16th place, theirs is prayer that the poor tide recedes soon as the fight for survival seems real by the day.
In an earlier kick-off at Machakos, City Stars Head Coach Nicholas Muyoti called it quits after his team succumbed to a surprise 2-1 loss against bottom side Posta Rangers. The mailmen won only their third game this season after a bad run of results which put them at 14 points in 15 matches. However, it was Simba wa Nairobi that has got tongues wagging after yet another woeful performance that has seen them go back to back losses. The Kawangware based side has only picked 16 points in as many matches and are presently in 15th place.
