Seven arrested in connection with JKUAT student’s murder
Seven people have been arrested and will be arraigned in a Nairobi court following the murder of a fourth-year Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) student, Joel Juma.
According to the Juja-based Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO), Richard Mwaura, a preliminary investigation has placed two of the seven suspects as the most guilty and might be charged with murder.
Juma, 23, who pursued a Bachelor of Science (Industrial Chemistry), was stubbed twice on the chest by one of the thugs before they fled to darkness in the 2 am incident.
He was attacked on his way to pick up a book from his friend, who lives a few meters from his hostel.
Juma was in the company of his girlfriend, a Law student at MKU.
The thugs demanded Juma’s phone and money before stubbing him.
With the help of guards who were responding to the incident, the girl rushed Juma to a nearby dispensary where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police suspect that the thugs are part of a gang operating in Kayole and Dandora and have only regrouped and shifted their operation base to Juja after the police raided their den.
