Nakuru county speaker to launch her senatorial bid Saturday

Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Susan Kihika will on Saturday play host to hundreds of supporters at her Engashura home in Bahati constituency as she formally launches her senatorial bid.

Today, one of the organizers told the Informer that all Jubilee MPs and MCAs had been invited for the event adding that they are expecting about 3, 000 people from all corners of Nakuru County to attend.

The organizer who wished not to be named because she is not authorized to speak to the press on behalf of Speaker Kihika said Saturday’s event is the start of big things for her. “We have invited all Jubilee politicians including MPs,” she said.

Ms Kihika, who is the daughter of former Nakuru North MP Dickson Kihika Kimani, is seen as a frontrunner in a crowded which includes veteran politicians Koigi Wamwere and Njenga Mungai as well as new entrants like Brian Randich.

Madaraka Mwithaga, who is the son of former Nakuru Town MP Mark Mwithaga, is also expected to take a second stab on the seat after he lost to Senator James Mungai who won the seat in 2013.
