Little-known businesswoman Muthoni Grita has officially announced her presidential bid ahead of the August 2022 presidential polls.
Grita becomes the first female aspirant to formally declare her interest in the male-dominated race in 2022.
Speaking yesterday at Serena Hotel, Muthoni said Kenyans deserve a competent leader who understands their needs.
Grita, vying on a Ford-Asili ticket, noted that she is seeking to bring a paradigm shift encompassing women and youth away from the traditional norm of leaders.
“This is your nation. You’re not refugees, it is your nation you’re free and you should make decisions which will touch your children until fifty years to come,” Grita said when she launched her bid.
Muthoni highlighted that in her pursuit to ascend to the highest office in the land, she would focus on the youth, boosting the economy and restoring the rule of law in the country.
“We will accelerate manufacturing, increase agricultural productivity, attract investments, improve education, develop talents and provide equality and high-quality health care for all,” she stated.
Muthoni was a member of the Global Governing Council of the European Digital University Education, USA, in BlockChain Certification Application before entering politics.
The University of East London graduate has extensive experience working for both profit and non-profit organisations, including New Wine Church in the UK, Josephat Charity in London, UK and World Mothers’ and Children Organisation in Gothenburg, Sweden, to name a few.
Grita is expected to face off with ODM leader Raila Odinga who is the Azimio la Umoja flagbearer and Deputy President William Ruto of Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
Grita has, however, dismissed claims that the presidential contest is a two-horse race between Raila and Ruto.
