Gabow refute resignation claims of Kenyan police in Haiti Peace Keeping Mission

Former Deputy Inspector General of Police  Noor Gabow has rubbished claims that some of the police officers, who had been seconded to serve in Haiti, had resigned.

Appearing before the National Assembly on Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations,  Gabow, who was nominated by President William Ruto to take over a position in Haiti as Consul-General, said that he would ensure that police officers in the country have been paid

The top cop  said the welfare of the police officers who went to serve in Haiti at the request of the United Nations were being taken care of. He said the officers have so far made many inroads paving the way for peace in the country.

He said the stability created by the Kenyan police officers in Haiti has enabled other countries like Jamaica, Guatemala and Asian police to take their officers in the country to join the Kenyans.

Gabow also said that so far the 400 Kenyan police officers sent to Haiti have been able to secure the airport, port, and free the police-training centre where about 700 police officers are currently being trained.

He defended his nomination to the position saying he has had adequate training in various regions across the world. “I have worked at the United Nations and African Union (AU) on issues related to peacekeeping in Bosnia, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.”
