The bane of Jubilee nomination through nomination
The Jubilee Party will issue nomination certificates to its aspirants starting next week Tuesday, confirmed Jubilee, director of elections, and Kieni MP Kanini Kega.
“There’s no need for anyone to come to the headquarters; certificates will be issued in the counties from Tuesday (today) going forward,” Kanini said.
Kanini further urged the aspirants to wait for the party to issue directions on how the nomination certificates will be allocated and how they are going to be collected from the headquarters.
“We beseech our members not to come to the headquarters until we call them,” he said.
Jubilee party Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni yesterday said that the party was looking at consensus building to arrive at the best and strongest candidates who will edge out jubilee opponents in the August 2017 polls.
“We continue to consult with our aspirants across the nation for consensus building,” Kioni said in a tweet.
“We believe that this process will yield the best candidates who will not only deliver victory to the party in the coming elections but also work diligently for the people of Nairobi.”
However, The Informer has learnt that through its method of selecting candidates, the Jubilee party might have been putting in place their preferred candidates instead of going for the most popular candidates.
While trying to reach Kanini Kega to know which organisation was commissioned to conduct the opinion poll to identify how the decision on the most popular candidate was arrived at, we got no response. The parameters were not clear on how the poll was arrived at.
