Ole Lenku decamps from Jubilee to Raila’s ODM party
Kajiado Governor Joseph ole Lenku has decamped from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s led Jubilee Party to join Orange Democratic Movement (ODM),
Ole Lenku, who was received by National Elections Board Chairperson Judith Pareno, said the ground has shifted to ODM.
Last week, the party had thrown its weight behind the governor, saying that they will support his re-election bid.
The announcement came after the former Governor David Nkedianye decamped from the Orange party to Jubilee.
“After a robust discussion among ourselves, we have taken exception to the defection of one of our members, David Ole Nkedianye, to another party,” he said.
Nkedianye defected to Jubilee party last week after citing “unfairness” in the manner in which ODM leadership was handling its nomination.
ODM party is reportedly having a tough moment trying to contain looming implosion as senior politicians abandon it.
It has emerged that the Luo-Nyanza region politicians are facing a tough time as they reportedly tried to find comfort in other parties after realising they might be subjected to an unfair nomination.
It is claimed that some senior politicians such as Senator James Orengo and Eala MP Oburu Oginga who are eyeing Siaya County governorship and senatorial seats, respectively, are allegedly being favoured by the party at the expense of other politicians.
Sam Ongeri was on Monday officially unveiled as a member of DAP-K after he abandoned ODM accusing it of insincerity.
Additionally, former Cabinet Minister Dalmas Otieno has also left the Orange party and joined Jubilee.
