IEBC appoints Michael Ouma director of ICT, replaces late Chris Msando
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has today appointed three new directors including Michael Ouma who is now the Director Information Communication and Technology (ICT).
He has taken a position held by Chris Msando before his demise in 2017.
The electoral agency also appointed Ruth Kulundu to the position of Deputy Commission Secretary (DCS) Operations and Chrispine Otieno Owiye as Director of Legal and Public Affairs.
Kulundu previously worked as IEBC Regional Elections Coordinator from 2010-2017 and later as Siaya County Elections manager. She has 12 years’ experience in management of elections in the country.
Owiye is an advocate of the High Court with 18 years of post-admission experience.
The appointments were announced after the electoral body conducted interviews for the shortlisted applicants on March 9-10, 2022.
“The following applicants emerged as the most qualified and suitable for the positions,” said IEBC.
The trio’s appointment comes days after Hussein Marjan was appointed the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
He was found as the most suitable during the just-concluded recruitment process. Marjan is the first non-lawyer to hold the position. He was among five candidates shortlisted.
Marjan, who was in the role in an acting capacity, has held the post since April 2019. His rise started after he was appointed by Chebukati as the October 2017 repeat presidential poll coordinator.
