Kenya is not at war with its neighbours, Prime CS and Foreign Affairs Minister Musalia Mudavadi say
Kenya is not at war with its neighbours and will endeavour to resolve any arising differences diplomatically, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Minister Musalia Mudavadi has said.
The Prime CS dismissed that Kenya is in a diplomatic spat with its regional neigbours terming the claims as false and misleading.
Mudavadi refuted reports on the alleged conflict between Kenya and her neighbours.
“Our brothers and sisters in media, please know Kenya is not at war with any of its neighbours. The correct position on this matter is that President William Ruto is on the front line of fostering peace in the region.” He said.
“The President is working to bring peace in nations within our region that are facing internal or cross border conflicts because the wars could find their way into Kenya.” He added.
Mudavadi stated that president Ruto’s leadership is working tirelessly to see to it that Kenya’s diplomatic stand is strengthened not only regionally or across Africa but beyond the continent.
He said his Ministry will continuously foster good international reputation and Kenya will not allow any differences that will place it at loggerheads with any of the countries it is partnering with in various spheres of economic, political and social advancements.
He spoke yesterday during an interdenominational prayer and thanks giving service in Machakusi, Teso South Constituency where he joined President Ruto, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, Governors Paul Otuoma (Busia), Ken Lusaka (Bungoma) and a host of MPs, National and Local Leaders.
“In war there are no winners, everybody is a loser but in peace there are no losers.
That is why we need to always ensure peace and tranquility prevails with our country and we should never allow our nation to slide into political instability.” Mudavadi added.
Mudavadi said collaborative efforts in achieving key resolutions to any emerging diplomatic spats should be encouraged within the East African Community region.
He said the EAC mission aims at widening and deepening economic, political, social and cultural integration to improve the quality of life of the people through increased competitiveness, value-added production, trade and investments.
He also urged the people of Teso and Busia to support President Ruto’s agenda, rally together behind their leaders and ensure they gain from the development agenda of the current administration.
He also urged the Western Kenya, especially political leaders to preach tolerance and be consistent with their support to the government as they unify the people of the region to speak with one voice on key matters of regional and national interest.
“Consistency and being true to ourselves as leaders and as a people of Western Kenya is what will help us to benefit from the distribution of national resources and key development projects thus uplifting our people’s living standards.” Mudavadi noted.
“If Tesos and the people of Busia will benefit from the support we are giving the President, then Kenya will have benefitted and humanity will also have benefitted.” He emphasised.
Acknowledging that the electioneering period is over, and leaders should focus on working for the citizens, Mudavadi told the Teso and the larger Busia county, that when time comes for the 2027 general elections’ they rally behind President Ruto’s candidature and vote for his second term.
“One of the communities that knows how to use their vote is the Teso community. They are the most powerful voters in Western Kenya. When they make a decision to support you, they rally together to the last voter. My request to the Teso and Busia people is when 2027 comes that powerful voting power that you have exhibited in the past, please load it unto President Ruto’s basket.” He said.
