Agnes Kavindu Muthama has been sworn in today as Machakos Senator.
She has replaced the late Boniface Kabaka who passed away December,2020 and becomes the fourth elected woman senator since the enactment of the 2010 Constitution.
“Today I have been sworn-in by Speaker Keneth Lusaka at the Senate, I wish to thank the people of Machakos and Wiper Movement for the mandate they have given me and for their steadfast confidence in me,” she said.
Kavindu won the seat with more than 104,0802 votes against her closest competitor Urbanus Ngengele of UDA who got less than 20,000 votes.
The by- election attracted 11 aspirants including three independent candidates.
Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Senators Mutula Kilonzo (Makueni) and Enoch Wambua (Kitui) accompanied her for the ceremony at the Senate.
