Mombasa county government has ordered closure of all unlicensed food and water vendors business in an attempt to contain further spread of cholera even as death toll from the disease rose to four.
About 82 people with suspected cases of cholera have been admitted in various health facilities within thecounty with 25 of them testing positive for the infection.
“As a measure and this is adecision that has been taken that as from tomorrow all food and water vendorshave been put on notice that if you don’t have a health certificate, yourbusiness will be closed,” said County Executive Committee (CEC) member forHealth Hazel Koitaba.
Koitaba said majority of thecholera cases have been reported in Jomvu and Changamwe area.
She said that many of the reported cholera cases are of adults.
